Hapkido's origins lie in Daito-ryu Aiki-Jujutsu from Japan as well as its influences from several Korean martial arts such as Taekkyon and the remnants of other Korean martial arts that were suppressed by Japanese occupation. It is an art defined by the use of non-resistance against force and flowing circular techniques, powerful joint locking and leverage-based throws as well as a large arsenal of kicking and hand strikes.

Central Coast Hapkido was established in 1981 and was opened by Richard Bridge. He had a background in Filipino martial arts and Hapkido, and he was the men's heavyweight Judo champion of NSW. The current chief instructor began to teach on the Central Coast in 1995 when a full-time club was opened in Wyong. The use of the name Dul Won ("two circles") indicates our commitment to using both large and small circle techniques along with linear techniques. We have provided full-time instruction for 30 years on the Central Coast.
